Brian J Showers

Brian J Showers

Brian J. Showers is originally from Madison, Wisconsin. In 2001 he moved to Dublin where he has lived ever since (if you don't count those nine months in Stockholm). Brian has written short stories, articles, interviews and reviews for magazines such as All Hallows, Supernatural Tales, Ghosts & Scholars, Le Fanu Studies, Machenalia, and Rue Morgue.

Since 2003 he has published chapbooks and booklets as The Swan River Press. In addition to his own ghost stories, illustrated by Duane Spurlock and Meggan Kehrli, he has published spectral tales by Reggie Oliver, Gary McMahon and Mark Valentine.

In 2004 Brian's short story "The Old Tailor & the Gaunt Man" was included in Ash-Tree Press's award-winning anthology Acquainted with the Night. His first book, Literary Walking Tours of Gothic Dublin, was published in 2006 by Nonsuch Ireland, followed in 2008 by The Bleeding Horse and Other Ghost Stories (Mercier Press), which was launched at P-Con V in March 2008.

Today Brian is editing an anthology for Ex Occidente Press called Haunted Histories: Stories of Spirit and Stone due out later this year. Tomorrow he'll be off to the archives, undoubtedly to do something secretive and arcane.
